Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
An exciting and unique experience to be involved in a chimpanzee habituation project allowing you to accompany Kibale Forest’s team of researchers and habituators as they follow the chimpanzees during their daily activities.
The aim of the habituation programme is to get the chimpanzee troops familiar to human presence without altering their natural behaviour.
During a full day in the forest, you can expect to see the chimps de-nesting as they wake up and emerge from their nocturnal nests between 5.30am and 6.30am. As part of the team you will follow the primates throughout the day observing their behaviour and enjoying the proximity of these charming animals. They’ll finally create new nests and retire for the night at around 7pm.
The chimpanzee habituation experience runs during tourist low season months; March, April, May and November from Crater Safari Lodge.
